Doctor Bose appears as a middle aged man in a black suit with a blue shirt, and black shoes. He wears an NHS lanyard with an identification card around his neck. He wears his short black hair cleanly slicked back.

Doctor Bose was a visitor to the hotel, having been called there by Rose Hall, Jimmy’s mother, to help understand and rationalize his erratic behavior.

Despite being a psychiatrist, he was unable to properly diagnose the cause of Jimmy’s actions.

Doctor Bose began experiencing issues almost immediately, finding that Jimmy had been killing animals for fun. Recognizing that Jimmy needed help with empathy, he asked him to think of something nice he could do for him. Jimmy immediately went to the kitchen, put on a chef’s hat he’d found, and began making him a sandwich. Doctor Bose, pleased at the genuinely thoughtful gesture, asked him to bring it up to his room when he was done.

At some point during this process, Hugo took over his mind and put broken glass in the sandwich before serving it to Doctor Bose. Doctor Bose, his mouth full of glass and blood, ran to the bathroom and attempted to spit it into the sink, using a cloth to stem the bleeding. He kept the blood-stained cloth in case he needed it as evidence. He was going to go to the police, but thought instead to try to help Jimmy to not do these things, rather than have the police punish him. He had Diazepam, a medication meant to treat erratic behavior in some individuals, on hand; it wasn’t the best medicine, but it was all he had, and he needed to help Jimmy immediately. Jimmy would not let him administer the medication, and he had to chase him around the hotel, finally cornering him at the dead end of floor 2, asking him to stop moving around and telling him he’s not trying to hurt him.

Jimmy, however, accused Doctor Bose of beating Jimmy with a paddle to get him to submit to taking the medication. Doctor Bose was able to convince Rose, who at first believed Jimmy, that he was lying and that this behavior was why he needed to try the Diazepam. But then Jimmy stepped up the lie to an accusation of molestation. Rose called the police, and Doctor Bose was arrested and presumably charged with child molestation.

One night, while he was out on bail, Doctor Bose used his spare hotel keys to sneak in, intending to hang himself from the elevator as it ascended from the basement. He had experimented with some washing line and a rolling pin before, but the washing line was too thin to support his weight, so he found and used rope instead. Doctor Bose succeeded in ending his own life, as shown in an apparition. Doctor Bose said that he did it out of hopelessness; his career, his life, was over.

As it turns out, Jimmy had taken the molestation story straight from a newspaper article about a doctor molesting a young boy, which he had glued into his scrapbook. Harvey’s story begins with him questioning the legitimacy of the accusation and defending Doctor Bose.

Amy wore a 70’s-era light blue dress with pink flowers, and white shoes.

Amy Bell is the daughter of an unknown guest. She was 10 years old when she died.

She first appears in the basement when Maya takes the elevator to any floor; she can be spoken with using the ghost/spirit receiver in the basement. When Maya asks Amy about a young girl she saw crying in the basement, Amy explains that it was her; young Jimmy locked her down there. She also tells Maya that he started stealing things from her; cross-referencing that with the child’s purse reveals that he stole it and took her money. Connecting the turpentine and lighter to the information given after asking about the event in the arcade reveals that Jimmy doused Amy’s stuffed toy with turpentine and lit it ablaze, severely burning Amy’s hand. This can be seen in Room 109.

Amy complained about her hand, and Jimmy said he could relieve the pain, as long as she didn’t tell anyone. She didn’t trust him, and tried to look for a doctor, but Jimmy threatened her with the ornamental sword. When connecting the sword with the event seen outside of the hallway to Rooms 102-105, Amy reveals that he used it to threaten her against telling anyone. In Room 112, she was drinking something that she didn’t like, saying that it tasted horrible. Jimmy said it was medicine, but it was actually whiskey, empty bottles of which the player can find. Jimmy told her to keep drinking the “medicine”, and Amy became intoxicated. Amy can then be seen from outside the third floor stairway doors, looking down over the railing and giggling. She said she felt really light and thought she could float down to the bottom. Amy climbed over the banister and fell to her death down onto the lower ground stairs.

The final sighting of Amy is of her corpse on the stairs. Amy says: “I jumped, but then it all went dark and I couldn’t wake up. I can’t wake up anymore. I don’t know where I am,” before she fades on one more hallucination, ending her story.

The Sea View Hotel is the fictional hotel where the game takes place in. Maya was going to spend the night after the weather took an unfortunate turn and she can’t spend the night camping anymore. After this night, Maya and her friends are supposed to go to the music festival in a town nearby, or so she thought. The owner of the Hotel is Jimmy Hall.

Description

As the name «Sea View Hotel» suggests, the hotel has a rather nice view out to the sea. It’s built on the end of a cliff with presumably a road leading up to it. Due to its isolated location, the signal near and at it is weak.

The hotel itself is quite empty for its size and during the game you can enter most rooms which suggests that the only (living) people in the hotel is the owner Jimmy, Maya, Hannah and the other friends that come for the music festival.

The hotel is clearly old, suggested by the exterior architecture and dated interior. However, the hotel does have modern safety elements such as fire exit signs and a fire alarm system.

Location

The Sea View Hotel is located somewhere in the United Kingdom, exact location unknown (see Trivia for speculation).

Layout

The Sea View Hotel has 5 floors in total which you can explore. The LG Floor, The G Floor, Floor 1, Floor 2 and lastly, Floor 3.

Lower Ground (LG)

The LG (lower ground) floor is a safe floor as Jimmy ‘can’t hide here’ and thus wont be on this floor. This floor has three locked doors, one locked door leading to the stairwell, one iron door and one leading to a storage room, as well as one usable elevator and one which is ‘out of order’. It also features an open door to a maintenance room. This room has what is presumably an electrical generator and shelves with random junk on them.

Ground (G)

The ground floor is a safe floor just like the LG floor with Jimmy not coming here. This is the room where you begin the game and where you pick up the Ghost and Spirit Receiver. This floor has 12 doors, five of which are locked and one way too dark to enter. On the ground floor is also the reception where Maya finds the Master key (which is also where she first meets Jimmy before he starts hunting). This floor has a door to the stairwell which is already unlocked at the start. This floor has the exit, which is locked, as well as a door to the kitchen and two doors in the hall leading to the kitchen. if you go straight when entering you find the arcade room and if you continue you meet a locked door and a door with a hallway that’s too dark to enter.

First Floor

The first floor is most probably the first floor you will enter where Jimmy can find you, and knock you out. It features rooms 100 to 123 and many bending hallways, but not so many dead ends, as this is the floor where you get used to Jimmy.

Second Floor

The second floor is as big as the first floor, also having 23 rooms. It has many bending hallways and more dead ends. The main specialty about floor 2 is that it is closed-off at the start by having all lights turned off, making it impossible to go any further than the second floor lobby. Over time as you work your way further into the story, more lights go on, allowing you to visit the rooms of this floor. All rooms on this floor start with 2xx and go from room 201 to 223.

Third Floor

The third floor is significantly smaller as it is right up the roof having only 9 rooms. This floor has a more blue accent and generaly feels more expensive. The small floor plan makes it hard to navigate through this place when Jimmy arrives on this floor, as it will be harder to not run into him. The rooms all start with 3 and go from room 301 to 309.

Stairs

This is not a floor, but can act as a safe way to travel from floor to floor as this too is a safe place where Jimmy can’t enter. The stairs go from LG floor to Floor 3. This room is always accessible from G, needing keys to unlock the doors on the rest of the floors. When Jimmy is waiting at the staircase door you will be able to see him briefly peeking through; this makes the stairs a lot safer. The elevator does not give you this luxury. If you see Jimmy at the other side of the door but still exit the stairwell, you will instantly get bashed in the head by him and lose an item.

Elevator

The Elevator is the main way to travel from the 5 floors, being unlocked from the beginning. This is a fast way to move between floors, but you can get caught when you enter a floor Jimmy can hunt, as there is no window in the elevator doors, and the doors always open when you arrive. When you take the elevator while Jimmy is chasing you, you will see him walking or standing in that floor’s lobby when the elevator door closes.
